The Friends of Charnock Recreation group launched back in July 2006 and since they have managed to raise almost £200,000 through sponsors, donations and various other events towards the improvement and repair of a local park that was previously run down and vandalised. It was not a very safe or inspiring place for the children of the local community to play in.
Part of the redevelopment process has seen the instalment of a running track around the perimeter of the park to allow people from all age groups and backgrounds of the local community to come and train for free in the now nice surrounding that the park offers. Future plans include an exciting range of outdoor fitness equipment.
If your local to Sheffield, go check out the park which is situated on Carterhall Lane, Sheffield S12, behind Charnock Hall Primary School. It is locally known over the years as Charnock Park/playground and Charnock Rec. They also hold various free and fun activities for all the family.
